Practice Info to be Posted

Attention players:

If you think that weather may impact practice, you should check this Website or Mr. Kimball’s room for more information. Coach Farmer and I will have the appropriate information posted on this Website and at Mr. Kimball’s room if practice or a match is in question. When matches begin, we will also attempt to have the information announced to all three schools by 2:00 pm.

Transportation Provided by Tennis Team Parents

Yesterday, Coach Farmer passed out a Permission Form to each member of the team entitled: Transportation by Privately-Owned Vehicle.  The form appeared to be a one-time Permission slip for a particular event and since I wasn’t sure, I contacted PHS Athletic Department Secretary, Diane Daves, for clarification.  She said this form will be on-file at PHS for the entire tennis season and should be filled out by ANY parent that plans to transport ANY tennis player to a school sponsored event, beyond their own daughter.  Therefore, Coach Farmer is asking any parent that is willing/able to drive anytime during this season to please fill out this form now, at the beginning of the season.  This form, along with a copy of a Valid Drivers License and Proof of Insurance, must be on file with the Athletic Department prior to transporting students.

Since the form will be utilized for the entire season, please insert the following in the blanks on the form: name = your daughter’s full name; event = 2008 PHS Girls Tennis Season; sponsored by = Dave Farmer/Girls Wildcats Tennis; on = 2008 Season; driven by = Parent of Team Player.  Complete the form by dating and signing where appropriate.  Please return the form to Coach Farmer by Monday, March 17th.

Remember, with budget constraints in place, we are not sure of every event we may need parents to drive our players, and filling out this form now will avoid any transportation issues during the season.  Thank you.

Physical Forms are Due Now

Our first practice will be on March 10 and will begin at 2:30. Those players who have not had their physicals will not be allowed to practice with the team until the physical form is in. If you don’t have your physical, please still plan on attending the informational portion of our first practice. We will be discussing uniforms, rules, practice schedules, and several other important matters.

Assistant Coach Named

In addition to Coach Farmer being named as the new head coach for the PHS Girls Tennis Team, he will be joined by Assistant Coach Rob McLaren.  Coach McLaren is a teacher at Discovery Middle School and looks forward to a great season!

Packets Due: March 7th at 2:00

Just a Reminder :  For all those new and returning PHS girls tennis players that were not able to attend the first Parent/Player meeting that occurred on  2/23/08, information packets are still available.  The completed packets must be checked in by Friday, March 7, before 2:00 p.m. to Coach Kimball.  Official practice will begin on Monday, March 10th and you may not attend if your paperwork has not been submitted which includes a current physical dated 4/15/07 or later.  Physical forms must have a parent and doctor signature to be accepted.   Any questions or concerns, please e-mail Coach Dave Farmer at daf222@msn.com

Start of 2008 Season

Official Practice for the PHS Girls Tennis team will begin on Monday, March 10, 2008 in the Plymouth Gym at 2:30 pm.  Athletes should bring:  tennis racquet, tennis shoes, towel, water, warm-up with pockets, and short with pockets.  Weather permitting, we will be going to the outdoor courts.  During the first week of practice, Coach Farmer is hopeful that the team can do fitness training as well after practice.  He anticipates that the team should be finished between 5:00 and 5:30 pm.

New Coach Named

It’s official.  Coach Dave Farmer has been named as the new PHS Girls Tennis Coach.  Welcome Coach Farmer!  The team is excited to get started.

Coach Farmer has scheduled a mandatory Parent/Player meeting for this Saturday, February 23rd, at 3:00 pm at Plymouth High School just outside of the Athletic Office.  Coach Farmer will be handing out the information packets at this meeting as well as addressing the group as to plans for the upcoming season.  There will be a number of topics discussed including volunteer sign-up opportunities for parents.

See everyone on Saturday and, again, welcome Coach Farmer.
